I’m kind of obsessing over this Torn by Ronny Kobo plaid dress right now. Plaid has been a big trend for a while now. This dress gives us a ultra-femme, flattering feel to the usual men’s plaid button down shirt. I’ve styled it two ways today.
For my first look, I styled a night on the town, by adding some sassy purple caged stilettos and yellow jeweled clutch. For my second look, I took a note from the Chanel Fall/Winter 2014 show and gave the dress a street style look with a pair of leopard calf hair high-tops. As a woman who runs around in sky high heels all day, I’m loving the growing acceptance of flats/trainers being fashionable. Good enough for Karl, good enough for me:)

Marilyn may say diamonds are a girl’s best friend… But I say, Hollywood Tape is a girl’s best friend!!
Hollywood Tape won my affections after struggling to transform a leather top into a faux crop. I tried pinning, tucking and even double sided packing tape people!! I was on a mission to crop that top. As a last ditch effort I grabbed my Hollywood Tape. This tape is very thin, double sided and great to hold pieces in place. I normally use it to secure low cut shirts or delicate fabrics so didn’t expect much. To my surprise it secured my leather together like a pro! On top of that it stayed tightly fastened all night and in extremely warm weather.
This is a fashion secret I had to share with you! Hollywood Tape is safe on skin and fabrics. I’ve found it useful in securing those pesky wrap dresses, belts that don’t want to lay and even a client’s over the knee boot that just wouldn’t stay up. Hollywood Tape is extremely affordable and should probably be called miracle tape but I guess Hollywood will do.
FashionBillie Bit: Do your taping prior to putting lotion on your skin or hands for optimum stick!

Elle magazine recently published a article saying, “Color Coordinating is Not Chic, Says Science”. Apparently people don’t like things to matchy-matchy. While I appreciate the research, they are a little late to the game. What science has “proven”, is what fashion blogs and street style have been rebelling against for the past few years. Mixing their stripes and florals, textures and tones to mismatch is a match these days! On the contrary researchers found that people didn’t really like clashing combos either! So what’s a fashionista to do?
Mismatch while matching of course! My look today combines the mismatch with a black skirt and brown heels….gasp!! I then matched my tawny leather watch with my heels to pull the look together.

FashionBillie Bit: When mixing and matching it’s always a good idea to build around a neutral. Like my chambray (blue jean) top today!
If the denim on denim trend sends you reeling back to 2001 AMA’s when Justin and Brittany donned head to toe, matching denim outfits. Have no fear! Today I worked with Mirror/Mirror to show you how to rock this spring’s denim on denim trend.
I always use the expression, “Beauty is pain”! Never has this rang more true than waking up after a night in my amazing new stilettos. Stepping out of bed I could barely walk on the balls of my feet, which were on fire. On the way to the kitchen, I found myself waddling on my heels like a creepy penguin in one of those Batman movies. That’s when I realized a High Heel Hangover had set in!! So what’s a girl to do?
Bend and Snap
Stretching your tootsies will get your blood flow circulating and will release the tension cause by hours in your show stoppers.
Replenish and Restore
Step into a warm mineral bath with Epson salt. Just like a athlete restores sore muscles, Epsom salt will build and replenish the tissues in your tootsies getting you back in the game in no time! Complete your soak with a extra moisturizing foot cream.
Rest and Relax
If your dogs are barking give them a break! Do a sneaker weekend instead.
Ready or not, here it comes, you can’t hide…Free Press Summer Fest is gonna find you, and make you rock out! Most people I’ve talked to myself included are buzzing about Miss Lauryn Hill. As a homage to the turban wearing song bird I made a colorful scarf head wrap to give a little color to today’s black and white look.
Black and white is one of the hot trends of summer 2014 but it never hurts to add a little P.O.C. I know not everyone has a turban laying around so I found a really easy tutorial for you. It’s how I made mine today:) To give my feminine white cotton dress a bit of a rock n roll edge I added a black fringe boot . I think the boots give the outfit a bit of a Kate Moss boho/rocker vibe. To complete my festival look I layered on the metal accessories!
FashionBillie Bit: Fashion is about getting creative. This is not the time of year to find suede fringe boots so I made my own! These are actually a old pair of over the knee boots that I cuffed at the knee and cut fringe onto. Voilà!

Free Press Summer Fest is upon us! While I am a music baby it’s the fashion that really excites me. This week I’ll have some fierce festival fashion for you.
I would never wear a high heel to the actual festival however, half of the festival fun are the great parties!! These knee high gladiators are all the rage this summer and nothing is more festival chic. I paired my Penny Loves Kenny gladiators with this Gypsy 05 high low tie-dye dress from Carrie Ann Boutique. The dress is the perfect length for lounging on the lawn or dancing the night away. It is also a very thin stretch cotton to keep you cool on those warm summer nights. The festival vibe is all about accessories, accessories, accessories! To complete the look I added this great headpiece and ring-bracelet by Gypsy Britt.

A lovely little bird recently graced me with the gift of a beautiful Hermès scarf, in their signature orange hue. As I admired the gorgeous silk scarf, I thought to myself …..”what the heck am I going to do with this”? The Hermès scarf has been a statement making accessory throughout the years with icons like Grace, Audrey, Jackie and even the Queen herself. Let’s face it, I’m no Grace! It was my task to make it modern and me! Today I wanted to add a bit of color to my outfit of nudes and I was also in a hurry, so 1,2,3… I tied my scarf into a triple knot collier.
The Hermès site itself has a lot of really cool ideas. You can download the “Silk Knots”app and get creative from head to toe.
FashionBillie Bit: Hermès taste on a Target budget? Shhhh… I won’t tell! Pick any scarf and get creative with colors. I bet your friends aren’t doing it yet!
