A unusually cool Autumn breeze was in the air this morning so I grabbed my favorite denim jacket to pair with my homemade cutoffs and Mink Pink boyfriend t-shirt. Ready or not, here it comes, you can’t hide…Free Press Summer Fest is gonna find you, and make you rock out! Most people I’ve talked to myself included are buzzing about Miss Lauryn Hill. As a homage to the turban wearing song bird I made a colorful scarf head wrap to give a little color to today’s black and white look.
Black and white is one of the hot trends of summer 2014 but it never hurts to add a little P.O.C. I know not everyone has a turban laying around so I found a really easy tutorial for you. It’s how I made mine today:) To give my feminine white cotton dress a bit of a rock n roll edge I added a black fringe boot . I think the boots give the outfit a bit of a Kate Moss boho/rocker vibe. To complete my festival look I layered on the metal accessories!
FashionBillie Bit: Fashion is about getting creative. This is not the time of year to find suede fringe boots so I made my own! These are actually a old pair of over the knee boots that I cuffed at the knee and cut fringe onto. Voilà!

This week I joined Mirror/Mirror to give you the ins and outs of sporty style! Sporty Style has really evolved. While the sporty style of the past was really sports specific, for Spring 2014 we are seeing a more sophisticated and flirty version of the trend.
To me sporty style says functional. So I went with this tangerine romper. Rompers are flirty, fun and don’t restrict you like a dress. Sporty doesn’t have to mean tom boy so I added a touch of sophistication with this colorful blazer. This blazer by Alice & Trixie is a button less v-neck, adding to the sporty, less “buttoned up” feel. The perfect way to complete the sporty look is with a statement making pair of tennies. These colorful keds bring this look together, playing off of the colors in the blazer and romper.

Anything leopard print is welcome in this girls closet. Thank goodness this great print reemerged as a far cry from the Peggy Bundy look of the 90’s. The new leopard is a neutral. You can wear it with almost any color. Take this Mink Pink sundress from Carrie Ann Boutique.
I could have played it safe and went with a gold, black or brown wedge. These colors are all great (safe) options.
I say why not play up the look and add a tribal printed wedge! After all Houston is my Urban Jungle!
Absolutly Love this crystal knuckle ring and vintage giraffe necklace I converted into a bracelet. Courtesy of my grandma Mrs. Billy Lovelace.
FashionBillie Bit: Check out your grandmas jewelry box. Vintage costume jewelry tends to be a better quality and resist discoloration. (No green neck)
FashionBillie Bit: Use leopard as a neutral.

This floral, empire waist dress by Mink Pink inspired today’s Throwback Thursday.
I styled my dear friend to take us back!
I styled this look with a dainty sock and lace up booties to give this look a “My So Called Life”/ “Blossom” 90’s appeal.
Want to keep it simple? Pair with a wedge or t-strap flat for a flirty fun look. At only $76 it’s a STYLE STEAL for sure! “Whoa!” (Joey voice)
